Common Core is quite different from previous standards. First - TopicsExpress

Common Core is quite different from previous standards. First these standards came from the federal level via big business attached with federal monies that were threatened to be cut if not adopted. Second while Common Core doesnt make their own worksheets, all materials from textbooks to worksheets are expected to be aligned with the standards. So essentially these worksheets and texts wouldnt have been created if it wasnt for the standards, hence they become Common Core paraphernalia. Third, the Common Core textbooks are not even being checked for accuracy or truthfulness. In many cases the curriculum that must be aligned to the standards uses misinformation or straight out biased information, whether it is the study of history, literature (where they are utterly destroying), mathematical analysis, etc. The push for STEM within CCSS also is a backwards approach to pre- 1980s education. While STEM is important, non-STEM curriculum is just as if not more important. The exploration of the humanities as they were intended is more than enrichment. Life without literature, art, music, philosophy, and even theological studies is not life at all. Man was never intended to be or work as a robot. Why do we expect our children to?
