Communion Meditation February 2, 2014 Matthew 10.2-4: Pew Bible Page # 7 2-3) Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed Him. Twelve Pennies A missionary lady was telling the story of her work in China. When she finished, a little girl came forward and gave her twelve pennies. “Please, I have been saving these pennies and now I want them to be missionaries in China,” she said. How happy the missionary was to receive the offering from this wholehearted giver. Months went by and finally a letter came for the little girl, which read, “With your twelve pennies I bought twelve Gospels of John. Each Chinese girl who is in my class received their own copy of the Gospel of John. They read the wonderful story in their own little books, and today all twelve gave their hearts to Christ. What a splendid investment you made.” Matthew 28.18-20: Pew Bible Page # 26 18) And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19-20) Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Jesus My Lord Have you ever looked at the cross, with a man hanging in pain, and the look of love in his eyes? Then I say...You have seen Jesus my Lord. Have you ever stood in the family, with the Lord there in your midst, seen the face of Christ on each other? Then I say...You have seen Jesus My Lord. Have you seen Jesus my Lord? He is here in plain view. Take a look, open your eyes, He will show it to you. That is the question this table is asking, “Have you seen Jesus my Lord?” “Have you shown Jesus to others?” A carpenter from Nazareth changed the lives twelve ordinary and different men. They in turn changed the lives of 3,000 people in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost. Today as we take part in our Lord’s Supper, please take time to remember how the Blood and Broken Body of Jesus has changed your life. As you remember those changes, please remember those who have not yet met Jesus and have not accepted Him as both Savior and Lord. The one thing that we all can say is that once you have met Jesus your life is never the same. Remember those twelve ordinary men, their lives were never the same, the life of the Roman Centurion at the Cross-was never the same, and the lives of those at Pentecost were forever changed. Today is the Day of Salvation and Today is the Day of Decision; will you decide today to share Jesus with someone who has never met Him?
