Today I turn 25 years old. Sort of. It was September 15, 1989, another rainy, dreary day (like today is), when I rolled my SUV in a single-car accident on back roads near Ogdensburg, WI. I was ejected through the Drivers Side window (NOT wearing a seat belt) and the extent of my internal injuries indicated that the vehicle actually rolled over me (!!) My precious then-toddler son Alex escaped miraculously with NO INJURIES and I recovered from my life-threatening injuries, less one kidney and my spleen and a big piece of my liver. This is the first year that I have lived longer since my accident than I lived prior to it, and that is a weird feeling because it almost feels as if the accident didnt REALLY HAPPEN TO ME as more and more years pass...... There are no pictures (that I know of) of the vehicle, or of me in the hospital, or even while recovering. God has given me second chance after second chance here on Earth --physically emotionally and spiritually -- and I just need to remember to be thankful for that. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY!!!
