Community Action Of Greene County, Inc. in The Daily Mail our Here Comes Christmas program would not be possible without community support, thank you all! Holiday cheer for 500 children Posted: Tuesday, January 13, 2015 1:30 am To the editor: The Board of Directors and staff of Community Action of Greene County would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the public for the generosity displayed during the holiday season. Since 2009 we have administered the county’s “Here Comes Christmas Program,” which provides underprivileged children gifts to open on Christmas morning. This year, over 500 children were either “adopted” for the holidays, where donors shopped for individual families, or their parents “shopped” at our headquarters, selecting gifts that were either donated or purchased with donated funds. More than about receiving a gift, we believe that this program offers hope to children and families who struggle financially throughout the year. We are so very appreciative of our donors and community partners who make this program possible. Deserving recognition and our sincere thanks for their part in making this Christmas merry for so many are numerous agencies and volunteer groups, including Joe Scampoli and Columbia-Greene Community College, Brenda Vandermark and Greene County Family Court, Fortnightly Club of Catskill, Lisa Cannon and the 2nd Baptist Church, Carole Muggeo and the 1st Reformed Church, Evelina Clark and the Catskill VFW, Barbara Beaumont and the Gold Wing Road Riders, Kiskatom Reformed Church Youth Group, Community Life Church, Columbia/Greene Town Clerks’ Association, Catskill Elks Lodge, the Lioness Club of Catskill, the Greenville Interact Club, Medway Congregational Christian Church, the women of Episcopal Church, Al Gasparini and the Catskill Ecumenical Council, Robin Frechette and the Rotary Club of Greenville, New Baltimore Reformed Church, Alma Veverka and the South Cairo Methodist Church, Annie Sirago and The Catskill Teachers’ Association, Sue Ray and the Catskill Public Libraries, and Jeff Freidman and the Greene County Chamber of Commerce. Equally wonderful for their assistance are the individuals and local and area businesses that helped us, and the contact people at them, including, Jean Lyons, Rachel Puckett, Carolyn Pardy, Veronika Marquoit, Tracy Young, Charles Ferro, Denise Janiec, Nancy McGahan, Maureen Biegner, Peggy Henne, Ella Gallagher, Martin Smith, Judith Gregory, Carol Pfister, Kathleen and Kevin Pacuk, Allen Kaplan, Susan Clark, Erin Vincent and family, Karen VanValkenburgh, Mary Jean Willis, Nichole Phillips, Lisa Hubbard, Judy Haskin, Nicole Bliss, Cathy Monteverde, Carol Riordon, Cindy Colletti, Gail Apjohn-Carr, Colleen Vincent, Jeri Camputaro, Regina Bulich, Michelle Story, Susan Meyers, Phyllis DePerna, Megan O’Connell, Laura Churchill, Roberta VanValkenburgh, Faith Smith, Dan Goetz, Tina Garuc, Vangie VanAuken, Tammy Vincent, Ashley Rothe, Cathy Hughes, Mary Ellen White, Robert and Joan Carl, Edmund and Gail Smith, Kelly Lindington, Maggie Goode, Jen Byrne, Thomas and Helen Widden, James Wagman, Jessica Fairbarin, Angel Fernandez, Diane Steele, Kate Arel, Joseph and Kate Izzo, Joseph and Mary Kames, Lindsay Guilbeault, Robin Mertzeis, Patti McAneny, Carol Miller, Warren and Eden Hart, William and Betty Reich, Kate Farrell, and Gerard Tshinkel. I would also like to thank the staff of this agency for taking on this project with such joy and enthusiasm. From all of us here at Community Action, we wish you and your families happiness, peace, and prosperity in the New Year! Sincerely, Florence Ohle, Exec. Dir. Community Action of Greene County, Inc.
