Community Team member Arif Togoo here and today we have an interview with one of the main pillars of the Mass Luminosity community, a guy who is loved and respected by all, especially the Mass Luminosity volunteer team; one reason being that he is responsible for choosing the members of the volunteer team and then holding it together. The other reason is that he is a bridge to CEO, Angel Munoz (although Angel is always directly accessible also). He is none other than Alex Anderson, lovingly referred to as “Sir Alex” by the volunteers. The man always behind the scene today is right here in the limelight. So Alex , we will let you do the talking now. Tell us more about yourself. Im the Community Manager for Mass Luminosity and Ive been a gamer since the days of the Commodore 64. My all time favorite game is Wasteland on Commodore 64 and am really looking forward to Wasteland 2. Wasteland is a true classic and I anticipate more of the same from Wasteland 2. Since when have you been associated with Mass Luminosity? I found out about Mass Luminosity back in late 2011. I came across the Facebook page via link from someone on my friends list and was intrigued and started entering their giveaways. Back then giveaways were for components and peripherals and some games here and there. One day I approached Angel Munoz and asked him how I could get more involved with Mass Luminosity and he referred me to the Mass Luminosity’s volunteer team which I joined and after being a volunteer for about a year, Angel asked me to join the Mass Luminosity staff as Community Manager. What other experiences have you had in the gaming world? Living five minutes from Electronic Arts’ headquarters and many other game developers has led to numerous opportunities for testing unreleased products either directly with those companies or through a marketing firm that does a lot of testing for them. Tell us what makes you so likable? How’s your relationship with the team of volunteers? I guess it’s because I do not micromanage and I emphasize collaboration, innovation and forward thinking. Everyone on the volunteer team should be there because they want to be more involved and everyone knows what they need to do. Much of the team have been around a very long time while others joined much more recently. It’s really like a family, but at the same time everyone knows this team has a purpose and goals to accomplish. What’s the criteria you use to choose a Mass Luminosity community volunteer? Mass Luminosity’s Community Volunteer Team was created as an extension of Mass Luminosity and its CEO, Angel Munoz. The team was built to comprise the most avid of fans as well as be cognizant of the vast diversity of the our global community. Currently we have volunteer members from the US, Puerto Rico, Brazil, UK, Greece, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, Bosnia Herzegovina and the Philippines. I look for someone who wants to go beyond the giveaways and help our global community grow. The volunteers plays an important supporting role in the Mass Luminosity machine from the marketing aspect to the Gaming Tribe social media experience at https://gamingtribe. Ultimately, I’m searching for people who will take on something, commit to it and run with it, someone who can work well with other team members to develop innovative ideas to get the word out about Mass Luminosity and help get the community involved. Anyone interested in joining the volunteer team can contact me directly. How do you coordinate with Angel to keep things going? What other role do you have in Mass Luminosity? Anyone who has followed Mass Luminosity and specifically Angel Munoz for any real length of time can imagine just how insanely busy Angel is, and several of the Mass Luminosity staff are located in different areas of the world including myself, so much of my day to day communication is via the Mass Luminosity private instant messaging system. Along with being Community Manager, I also manage the Gaming Tribe Facebook page, which has over 130,000 fans. How has it been working with Angel? Do you find him a wizard of sorts . He has done a fantastic job at bringing the gamers on this platform. Being able to work directly one-on-one with the CEO of a company isnt something a lot of people get to do. Working with Angel has truly been an awesome experience. I dont know if wizard is the right term, I think the phenomenon is that Angel has a vision of what he wants Mass Luminosity and Gaming Tribe to be, and rolls with it 100%. Ultimately, its that vision for a global community for PC gamers and technology enthusiasts that played a role in reeling me in. Mass Luminosity has well over 1.3 million fans between Facebook and Twitter, and we just recently launched Gaming Tribe 4.0 social media experience which has over 200,000 members. I think a major draw for gamers is that Angel is very involved with the community on a regular basis which you dont get from many CEOs, if any. Mass Luminosity has diversified into a charitable organization apart from being a gaming platform. Whats your take on this? Tell us more about it. Personally I think its pretty incredible. I wear my Human Power apparel quite frequently and when people inquire about the meaning of the Human Power icon I explain to them about it being more than apparel but a movement to effect change around the world in a positive way and one way Mass Luminosity does that is through donating a percentage of the retails sales to charities like Mercy Corps Corps and More is More. The sponsors at ML are quite a few and they keep on coming. What is attracting them to Mass Luminosity? Which are the major sponsors for you? I think its the potential to have their products or services introduced to 1.3 million+ gamers and technology enthusiasts who potentially will pick up their products as well as tell their friends and family about them, and then those people will tell their friends, etc.. The major sponsors for me are AMD and Cooler Master, as theyve been with Mass Luminosity from the beginning . You yourself are an avid gamer. Tell us about your favorites. What’s your take on BF4, what with all the crashes and then the unending patches from Dice? My current favorites are Titanfall, Warframe, Star Wars: Old Republic, Aion and am really looking forward to Elder Scrolls Online and Watch Dogs. I also dabble in COD:Ghosts on PC and PS4 and BF4 on PC. As far as crashes and patches go for BF4 it is what it is. My experience on PC has been different from my friend who plays on PS4. BF4 is still one of the best multiplayer shooters out there however it has some pretty stiff competition from Titanfall. Tell us where do you see Mass Luminosity say about 10 yrs from now? How much more potential is there for its growth? Will it diversify more? Angels motto is 2 ∞ & → and in 10 years, well considerably way before that I think well have surpassed the “beyond” part and working on the beyond after the “beyond”. In just 2 years weve gone from a few thousand fans to over 1.3 million, weve given away 10s of thousands of dollars worth of gaming rigs and weve launched the Gaming Tribe social media platform, which I think is the future for gamers as I anticipate gamers who are tired of Facebook and its constant privacy policy changes, will find a home at Gaming Tribe, Last question; Why are you referred to as “Sir” by your volunteer team? Some members addressed me as Sir when they were new to the team and many months later still opt to do so as do some others simply because I am Mass Luminosity staff and I manage this awesome team.
