Community scale renewable generation is the big gap in NZ compared - TopicsExpress

Community scale renewable generation is the big gap in NZ compared to a lot of other countries. Community ownership means those who have, say, wind turbines in their area also get some of the profits, and they tend not to be massive (but bigger than your average rooftop solar). Good for society, as money gets out to families instead of to the concentrated owners of giant power companies ; good for getting renewable accepted. In NZ there are two big obstacles. Firstly, the so called market in electricity blocks this scale of generation and secondly access to capital (linked to the first problem). The Green Investment Bank in UK shows how you can dream with the second problem. edie.net/news/6/Green-Investment-Bank-fills-funding-gap-for-UK-community-scale-renewables/
