Completely unimpressed with Rice, his wife, the NFL and the Ravens. 1) the NFL perpetuates a culture of violence. Sorry football fans, its true. 2) If management seriously believed his story they she slipped or something, then theyre idiots. 3) They got married so she wouldnt have to testify against him. Spousal privilege. Duh. 4) Victims of domestic violence cant be saved until they want to be. She doesnt want to be. And 5) Why drop the charges against her? Seriously?! She was the first aggressor? What gives HER the right to put her hands on him? And WHO in their right mind, messes with a pro football player? Not a stranger thats for sure. An entitlement driven girlfriend who has her own complicated secondary gain from the whole dynamic, thats who provokes a professional football player. In the end, she got what she wanted, the title of Mrs. Im not saying any of this us right or that Rice is any kind of okay or justified in what he did. It is just far far more complicated than most people understand. However, any progress by the NFL on owning up and acknowledging what festers and grows within their ranks is progress. Too bad for Rice that hes the scapegoat and the test case. I can assure you, this is not an anomaly, not a unique or rare occurrence. He just got caught. I think this is also a fairly mild incident. The public should really save some of its faux outrage.
