Comrades, if we be truthful to ourselves we will agree that over the months where Cde Vavi was in suspension there was a huge vacuum at Cosatu. The Cosatu over the last year has ceased to be the Cosatu we have always known. And on top of that we must agree that above all else, Cde Vavi best represents the aspirations of workers. His is a voice thats needed. Even in the alliance we cant afford to lose people like him. Hence I wish that the elected NOBs at Cosatu can find a way to work together and unite for the sake of Cosatu and what it represents. What I was against per se is the Vavi that Numsa wants him to be, a Vavi thats anti the alliance and a Vavi that is prepared to not campaign for the ANC and one that is prepared to form a new organisation to contest the ANC. Even in hardship though Cde Vavi demonstrated his commitment to the ANC and not once had he displayed the type of attitude Numsa portrayed.Mna I say, let there be no special congress, Cde Vavi must be allowed to finish his term, and I would say, from then Cde Vavi must look into the ANC and leave Cosatu politics. From 2017 we need an even stronger ANC and an ANC that continues to be a disciplined force of the left. So lets keep Vavi, let Cde Ntola return to Sadtu and let everyone continue doing what they were elected to do.
