Confab: Don’t take Tinubu serious, says group Nigerians have been told not to take the former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the All Pogressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu seriously over his recent statements on the proposed national confab initiated by President Goodluck Jonathan. The National Vanguard for Democracy and Development, NVDD, in a statement signed by its Public Secretary, Emeka Obinagwu, in Enugu, said that the former governor has reduced opposition leadership, which is supposed to be a revered source of plausible alternative ideas on governance to “theatrical performances and showbiz.” Tinubu had in recent statements dismissed the confab as a diversionary tactics by the president, saying there was no sincerity in its conception and that Nigerians should not expect anything from the process. Obinagwu said: “We have taken pain to read and digest sentence by sentence, words by words, the submissions made by Tinubu, but this time, he got it wrong and we should say so. “While he agrees on one hand that Nigerians need to talk, he is against the messenger. He is also of the opinion that since past efforts failed, this also will fail. That is extreme pessimism; we believe there is hope for Nigeria. “That Nigerians needs to talk is not a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, versus APC matter and should not be politicised at all. This is not a political dialogue, it is national dialogue.”
