Confirmed: Around 175 persons have perished in road crashes across the island of Jamaica since the start of the year, according to the National Road Safety Council (NRSC). This figure is an increase of 19 when compared to the same period in 2013. According to the NRSC, up to July 22, 2014, fatalities on the nations thoroughfares resulted from fatal crashes an increase of 20, for the corresponding period last year. 62 of the 175 persons who died from road crashes are pedestrians, 34 motorcyclists, 26 private motor vehicle drivers, 15 passengers of private motor vehicles, and 14 were pedal cyclists.
