Confirmed: Prosecutors in South Africa have officially lodged an appeal against the conviction and sentence handed to Oscar Pistorius. The athlete more popularly known as the ‘Blade Runner’ was sentenced to 5-years in prison for fatally shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home on Valentine’s Day yesterday. He was cleared of murder charges, and found guilty of culpable homicide. Prosecutors stated that their appeal was lodged “based on the question of law”. Attorneys for Pistorius have called for the athlete’s release.
