Confrontations, frustrations, plain old irritations... All of that - TopicsExpress

Confrontations, frustrations, plain old irritations... All of that is inevitable in this life. But Gods Word has a lot to say about how we handle confrontations, and deal with frustrations and irritations. Feeling motivated by our youth group discussion at church tonight, I spent some time gathering some scriptures tonight to help me combat my own tendencies to want to simply react when things in my day get crazy and chaotic. There is a better way. My plan tonight. Re-read the scriptures. Pray on them and tuck them away in my heart where God can cause them to resurface in the midst of those trying moments. Feel free to join me in my plan :). Starting Here: --- The Power of His Spirit--- Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control... Isaiah 59:21 “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your childrens offspring,” says the Lord, “from this time forth and forevermore.” -- The attack against the fruit of the spirit -- Jeremiah 11:19 But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. I did not know it was against me they devised schemes, saying, “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more.” -- The ability to hold my tongue and peace when under attack -- Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened NOT his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened NOT his mouth. 1 Samuel 10:27 But some worthless fellows said, “How can this man save us?” And they despised him and brought him no present. But he HELD HIS PEACE. Matthew 27:12-14 But when he (Jesus) was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer. Then Pilate said to him, “Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?” But he gave him NO answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed. Psalm 37:7-9 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land. Titus 3:1-2, 9-10 ... Be submissive to rulers and authorities, be obedient, be ready for every good work, speak evil of no one, avoid quarreling, be gentle, and show perfect courtesy toward all people... avoid foolish controversies... for they are unprofitable and worthless. As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, -- The ability to lead gently -- Isaiah 40:11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and GENTLY lead those that are with young. Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am GENTLE and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 2 Samuel 22:36 You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your GENTLENESS made me great. 2 Timothy 2:24-25 And the Lords servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness... James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. -- And it would serve me well to remember the warnings against a hot temper, and the scriptures that teach on patience -- Proverbs 15:18 A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention. Ecclesiastes 7:9 Be not quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger lodges in the heart of fools. Proverbs 14:29 Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly. Ecclesiastes 7:8 Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. 1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 1 Corinthians 13:7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Ephesians 4:1-2 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, James 1:19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; Proverbs 16:32 Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. Proverbs 19:11 Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. -- Our God after all, is a patient God -- Exodus 34:6 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, -- And may I not forget the necessity of humility-- 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise you who are younger, be subject to your elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Philippians 2:3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. -- May my heart be guarded by peace, and my mind set on thankfulness. Keeping in mind that peace rides on the tail of thankfulness. -- Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
