Congratulations to Gabrielle Montalbo of St Charles Primary School at Ryde who has won this year’s overall Crestwood Idol competition. Gabrielle gave a stunning interpretation of Lady Gaga’s Born this Way. The judges were unanimous in their verdict. Gabrielle’s version was simple and phenomenal and for someone so young to command the stage so professionally. Watching her perform alongside the other contestants was an absolute pleasure. She also accompanied herself on keyboard! This was Gabrielle’s night. The incredible range of singers was proof of the depth of talent here in The Hills. Crestwood Idol finale has moved onto a new plane of excellence, so it makes sense that it would move onto an era in the years’ ahead in which the winner is given her due acclamation for a job well done. The judges’ depth of experience in the entertainment industry made the win all that more significant: Lynne McGranger; Tim Webster, Ron Wilson, Tim McLean and Gareth McCray.
