Congratulations to St. Charles student.... Shauna Drew who was recently awarded 2nd place and a $400 check at the state level for her essay which was written for the Patriots Pen Contest put on by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary. The contest is for 6th-8th grade students across the country. The theme was What Patriotism Means to Me. Shauna, an eighth grader at St. Charles school, won 1st place at the district level and 2nd place at the state level out of 1600 entires....pretty amazing!!! Also, two St. Charles graduates participated in another similar contest for high school students. It was the Voice of Democracy audio essay competition. It was also sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lady Auxilliary. Their theme was Why I am Optimistic About My Nations Future. In that contest Jennifer Panackal took second at the district level, and Caitlin Fallon took first, moving on to the state level. Great job! These students realize the sacrifice others have made in order for us to be free! St. Charles would like to join them in thanking our current and past service men and women for their service on this Memorial Day weekend!
