Congressman Trent Franks A recent article on the lawsuit to challenge Obamacare on the basis that it violates the Origination Clause of the United States Constitution, which states that All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives. You may recall that the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare AS A TAX (a bill for raising Revenue). And every provision of the bill originated in the Senate, with Harry Reid using a sleight of hand to bring an unrelated bill from the House, remove the bills original wording, and insert the 400,000 words of Obamacare in its place. But by maintaining the bills original name and bill number (and nothing else), Mr. Reid claims Obamacare originated in the House. If tactics like this are allowed, the Origination Clause might as well not exist. I am heading up an amicus brief to be filed during the case, as I, and 31 other Members of Congress, express to the court our belief that Obamacare is a violation of fundamental Constitutional principles.
