Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson Applauds U.S. House of Representatives for Passing Her Second Resolution Condemning Actions by Terrorist Group Boko Haram Resolution sends a strong message that the U.S. demands the safe return of kidnapped girls in Nigeria Miami, FL – Today, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson’s (FL-24) House Resolution 617, condemning the abduction of hundreds of Nigerian girls by the terrorist group Boko Haram, was passed by the United States House of Representatives. Bipartisan support for the Congresswoman’s resolution comes in the wake of reports of more kidnappings of young women last week in Nigeria. H.Res. 617 is Congresswoman Wilson’s second resolution passed by the House condemning Boko Haram’s actions. Congresswoman Wilson issued the following statement: “Again, I thank my colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives for their unwavering support and for reaffirming our condemnation of the terrorist group Boko Haram. “Support for House Resolution 617 shows the world that we remain united and committed to the safe return of these precious girls and young women to their families. “The United States and the international community must remain vigilant and we must do all that is humanly possible to end this nightmare and ‘bring back our girls.’ “Brutality that is unchecked and unpunished poses a threat to innocent people everywhere.”
