Congresswoman Frederica S.Wilson says Port Everglades has to the green light to move forward with expansion plans, and that means the development of tens of thousands of jobs in South Florida. Congresswoman Wilson, Congresswoman Lois Frankel, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Congressman Ted Deutch will hold a news conference at Port Everglades on Tuesday at 10:00 am. The announcement comes on the heels of the recent passage of the bipartisan Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA). “Passage of the bipartisan Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) means jobs for Floridians and millions of dollars of revenue for the state. WRRDA will strengthen our water infrastructure, increase global competitiveness, and streamline our infrastructure development process,” said Congresswoman Wilson, who represents PortMiami and is the founder and co-chair of the bipartisan Florida Ports Caucus which advocates for Florida’s ports. WRRDA directs the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to proceed on important water infrastructure projects that would modernize many of the country’s outdated ports, inland waterways and restore the Everglades.
