Consent Culture: With everything being exposed as of late and in everyones face, we are proposed with a hell of an opportunity. We have all heard the rightly termed phrase rape culture. From its conception, this is a culture which is born of rape, the rape of the people who lived here before us, the rape of the land we live on, the rape of each others ideas and wishes, and the rape of human bodies. Now, what is rape? Rape is when something is outright taken from another. The flow of giving and receiving is disrupted by a straight up taking, and that taking happens without consideration of the person or situation that its being taken from. Consent culture is a culture born of learning this lesson: -If we take what is not ours, we do a disservice to whom we are taking from, and there is no way around this- This may seem like duh, and it is, but the soil from which we stand has ingrained beliefs and entitlements which continue to surface in very ugly ways. We as a people have an opportunity to rewrite the collective myth of what is normal, and create a truly safe place for all, but it wont just happen. This will be an active process of clearing intention and allow a greater connection within the heart of humanity.
