Conservation work was under way in the lighthouse courtyard this morning! Our archaeologists were working on the larger of two cannons recovered from a 1782 British Loyalist shipwreck just off the St. Augustine coast. In addition to changing the solution in the cannons vat, our lighthouse archaeologists measured the cannon to make a new boring tool that will allow us to clean out the barrel of the cannon.
