Conservatives cannot bear the thought of what people may choose to do inside their homes, especially in their bedrooms. Progressives cannot bear the thought of what people may choose to do outside their homes, especially in the labor and product markets. Together these two groups agree that nothing should be subject to free choice by acting individuals. If each had its way, all human movement would cease, and mankind would die of its own stupidity.
