Constructive Act # 105 - RELOCATE - I know this is kind of one of those words that you look at and say.....Yeh - thats a long shot...Who has money for that?....... Where would I go? Its one of those less likely options...BUT - it does have its place. For many addicts, their groups of people consists of dealers, other users and people who may not use, but dont care if you do. Are those really the people you need in your life? Sometimes getting away from them is the key to recovery! Anne Fletcher in her Inside Rehab book suggests that the people who get in recovery and stay there do it #1 - completely on their own, #2 - with a small support group of people, or #3 - with an individual Counselor. The majority of people NEVER go to rehab and Rehab is not at the top of the list for recovery options. So, maybe you should take the money you would use in rehab and RELOCATE. I love to work in my yard and gardening is one of my favorite hobbies, so I know this to be true....Some of my plants will NEVER thrive in their current location. Perhaps theres not enough sun or maybe theres too much sun. Maybe its too dry and the soil is all wrong. The truth is, until I relocate that plant, it will continue to hang on in a sickly state, or it will eventually die. Thats a FACT! Now dont misunderstand, there is that rare plant that will make it in spite of all other circumstances....but it is a RARE occasion! HOWEVER, If I move that plant into a more conducive location based on what I know it needs, more often that not, it will thrive and live up to its full potential. Blooming plants for the most part need sunshine! Lots of sunshine! Roses need Sunshine....Lots of sunshine. Will they still have thorns? Yes - of course - but they will be healthy thorns and ones that will grow with them and protect them from predators and vulnerability. This option is NOT for everyone, but for the age group 18 - 36, it seems like a logical solution, especially when you think that successful Generation Y people are changing jobs every 2 - 3 years on average anyway! A new beginning with new surroundings may be just the key to Recovery for some of you and the idea may be worth considering. Can you BLOOM and be BEATIFUL where you are currently planted??? FOOD FOR THOUGHT....
