Contrary to reports suggesting that Ajay Devgn was considered to essay the title role in Neeraj Pandey’s Ghalib Danger, it’s learnt that it’s Akshay Kumar who has bagged the plum assignment. Last year, director Neeraj Pandey had launched his first fiction book, Ghalib Danger and had also admitted of making a film based on the intriguing novel. Few reports also claimed that Ajay Devgn will be seen in Neeraj’s screen adaptation of the novel, but Ajay had reportedly declined the offer. And now, sources suggest that Neeraj and Akshay have joined hands for not one but two projects including Ghalib Danger and an untitled project. The novel, Ghalib Danger has been acquired by Abundantia Entertainment, headed by Vikram Malhotra, the former CEO of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The book will be adapted into a big budget movie. The novel, Ghalib Danger deals about the journey of a taxi driver who gets engulfed in the web of crime and how he eventually ends up becoming part of the underworld. A source close to the filmmaker insists, “Akshay has always been Neeraj’s first choice for Ghalib Danger. Neeraj is almost through with the shooting of Baby starring Akshay. After that, he’ll start work on Ghalib Danger that is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2015. Along with Akshay, the film will also feature interesting characters belonging to that era of underworld. The makers are also planning to make Ghalib Danger into a franchise.” After Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara, Akshay will once again play a gangster in Ghalib Danger. Akshay, Neeraj and Vikram remained unavailable for comment.
