Controversy is not something that most people handle all that - TopicsExpress

Controversy is not something that most people handle all that well. While there are many Americans that are extremely vigilant with regards to the actions of their government, the fact remains that the United States is an extremely insular nation and many of its people don’t take kindly to uncomfortable truths. In fact, that phenomenon is so significant that many will automatically look to anything that works to defuse what they view as threatening to the mythology long engrained in their psyches. The first place that major news outlets are going to go is not to the source of the leak, nor the journalist that broke the story, but to those in a position to deny and defuse. And that is precisely what is happening on almost every major network in the United States, and even outside of it. The jackals have been sent in, their mission being the provision of enough spin to confuse the issue to such an extent that the truth becomes speculation. In short, the domestic application of disinformation to provide enough confusion to promote doubt. To believe that the premeditation of such a strategy is beyond the pale probably means that you’ll fall for it. That might sound harsh, but there it is. As for objectivity, it simply doesn’t exist when disinformation is presented as an informational counterbalance.
