Conversation with a government worker today.... Me: hello, this is Luke with Viridis. Dude: sir, Im callin to tell ya that your sign in the island on 515 is gonna haf ta come down. Theres no advertising allowed and besides, it isnt within regulations. Me: Im sorry...who am I speaking to? Dude: this is government worker. Sir your sign has ta come down. Me: hi government worker. Im sorry that my sign isnt within regulations. We checked the rules before installing. Where did we go wrong or misinterpret? Dude: there aint no advertising and the sign posts cant be any bigger than a 4x4. Me: um sir, have you looked around? Wait...we used 3x5s. How is that a problem? Dude: sir, they cant be any bigger than a 4x4. Me: okay. I understand. What am I missing? Dude: 4x4 sir. Obviously your not understanding me. Me: um, obviously not. Dude: how hard is it? The math is simple. Your 3x5 is too big. Take it down. Me:.............um, sir...... Dude: I aint gonna sit here and argue, just do what I ask. Me: sir, let me begin by asking the requirements needed to obtain your position. Was math one of those requirements? Forgive me for what I am about to show you, but perhaps it will help you later on in life. Do you have a pen and paper? Dude: Im not listening to this. Why do I need that? Me: bear with me sir. I was an English major but we are about to do some arithmetic. Okay...so you say I cant have a post bigger than a 4x4, correct? Dude: yeah. Me: we have a 3x5.. Dude: and thats too big. Me:...........4x4.........3x5.......sir please write that out and you will totally see. Dude: I dont have time for this... Me: sigh.........please sir, this affects people everywhere. Humor me. 4x4 and 3x5. Do you see it? Dude: you have your instructions. *click So now we must replace our 3x5 sign with something no bigger than a 4x4. Any suggestions? Im at a loss.
