Cookeville Police, firefighters and bomb investigators were put on the alert Tuesday after a man brought a suspected “live” rocket into a store. The man brought the rocket or missile into the GI Depot to sell. When the store owner became suspicious that the item, an M8 rocket from WW2, was possibly active, he phoned for the police. Emergency personnel set up perimeters and took precautions until after the rocket was X-rayed and found to be disarmed. The man later told officers that he had received the “dead” weapon from a friend.
