Cooperative Economics - Operation Save Our Schools - Peace brothers & sisters. First of all, let me let you all know that the response that I received to the original post with the idea of adopting a Black / African owned & operated school was overwhelming. I received so many enthusiastic YESs, as well as questions, suggestions, & information on schools. THANK YOU. Let me let you all know, that I started & over saw another organization or group think tank called Cooperative Economics, which did basically the same thing but was created to assist Black businesses. It was extremely successful, & you can do some research if you need to check my track record. Im going to tag each & every brother / sister that confirmed that they want to commit to this endeavor. I like to hit the ground running, & I know its going to take some time to iron out the kinks & answer all questions... comments. So for our first school, Im suggesting / selecting the Akoben House, located in Atlanta, GA - Owned & operated by Mwalimu Baruti & Yaa Baruti. I have personally been to the school, & I have also been mentally & spiritually fed by the works of these two giants in our community. They are in need of our help right now, & I think we will make our people proud by choosing them as our first school to uplift, edify, & assist financially. Here is the response I received when I reached out to our brother - Certainly we could use some new computers, dictionaries, wood and fertilizer for the raised beds and all sorts of school supplies. but what Akoben Institute needs most is scholarship money. We have (and have had) students whose families could not afford the full tuition and we accepted them with no or partial payment. This, of course, takes its toll on our resources and ability to educate our children as they should be, not to mention the students we would love to have here, but cannot because of money issues. So, although the tools to teach them better are always on the list of whats needed, being able to have them here as students is the more pressing issue. We definitely appreciate what you are attempting to do to assist in the education of our children for the frontline. Abibifahodie, Baruti So there is the call, how many of will can answer? Griff and myself will be hand delivering our $20 a piece for the month of April, & we will continue that support through the month of September 2014. (6 months time) Family - This is A LOT OF WORK. If anyone among us has time to assist me with the administration of this process, please inbox me. Those of us who show up & support this brother & sister will be instrumental to the function & design of our program, which we plan to make a national agenda. If you passed this information on to others who are interested in joining, please tag them in this post or have them email me at MindMatters99@yahoo. Contact information for sending donations will be posted below, this is where the rubber meets the road. Brothers & Sisters, welcome to Cooperative Economics: Operation Save Our Schools. Love yall Peace. Xminista ProfGriff Professor Griff Kavon Shah https://youtube/watch?v=JQ0jIi3GrGc
