Copy of article #ruralhealth left out - RURAL health has been overlooked in the race to secure votes on September 7, says the Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA). The National Farmers Federation updated its federal election scorecard marking the Coalition ahead of Labor and the Greens on its five key policy points, but neither the Coalition or the ALP have made the significant election commitments required to revive the rural health sector, RDAA chief executive Jenny Johnson said. While The Greens launched a rural health policy on August 14, the RDAA urged the major parties to rescue the rural health sector from the “longest waiting room in history” by committing to major initiatives to improve access to healthcare in the bush. “Both parties have made a handful of announcements during the campaign, and these will certainly assist the sector and are welcomed. © FARMONLINE
