Copy/pasted from Calculus of Democracy: The reason is really simple: they have nothing better to do. Americans have grown up extremely comfortable and shielded from the harsh realities of life that most human beings face. Having no real adversity to deal with, they invent it, and this generation has chosen to despise themselves - to despise the culture, the history, the traditions, and the religion of their own people. They hate the economic system which has enabled them to grow up as spoiled little American kids with cell phones and HDTV. They hate Mother Nature for not making gender an option you get to pick. They hate the military that protects them. They despise the brilliant, successful people of our society who innovate and pioneer the technology that makes them comfortable and create the jobs that feed them. They condemn their ancestors as ignorant racists, despite the fact that they were born at the pinnacle of human civilization due to the sacrifices, effort, and blood of those who came before them. Most of all - they hate the moral fiber, work ethic, and family structure which has enabled our civilization to remain stable and productive, leading the world through the industrial age, the jet age, the atomic age, the space age, and the information age in a mere 200 years after thousands of years of human stagnation. Its an arrogance that tells them they are so much more enlightened than the people who built everything they take for granted that they should discard all of that collective human wisdom and replace it with whatever they dream up. Because they have never known any different, they believe that what we have here in America will always be, regardless of how they choose to live their lives.
