Cormier is going to get shut down if he fights Jones. He is way - TopicsExpress

Cormier is going to get shut down if he fights Jones. He is way too stumpy, if you see him in real life he is built like a barrel. Jon Jones in real life is 64, but he is all legs, and it literally looks like he could touch his toes without bending over. Back to Cormier and his baby arms and wrestlers compact build, he has been the luckiest fighter ever to come into the HW division (I still believe the fights at Strikeforce were rigged by Showtime and thats why Dana White always called them dirty and didnt never got involved. How does the president of a company not get involved, it must have been something pretty significant for that workhorse to stay away.) As for his time in the UFC I think MIR has been done for awhile now, its just Dana has trouble letting antiques go, and was injured during their fight to boot. Roy Nelson also is a stumpy guy, he has a good ground game, but can be neutralized by any high caliber wrestler (which Cormier is) even on the feet. I dont care how much weight he loses. Wrestling isnt going to win a fight against Jones and Cormier can spend his entire career working on his striking and it will never be enough. I think Cormier and Glover Texiera should have fought while Jones fought Gustafsson in a rematch, which will a completely different fight the next time around, I guarantee Greg Jackson works on that gameplan everyday of his life. I think Glover Texiera would also give Cormier a wake up call entering the LHW division. The mistake HWs make moving down is they think because they fought at HW they have an automatic advantage, but you could ask guys like Brandon Vera, Mark Coleman, or Randy Couture and they would laugh in your face. The LHW division is a faster division, a more competitive ground game, huge stylistic differences that are not in the HW division so much. Coming from HW you are used to avoiding damage in the form of big punches, but with the acception of Cain Velasquez (Ive seen Cain fight live many times, and train. A guy that big shouldnt be able to move that fast, and when I say fast, I mean this guy moves like a lightweight) they are usually slower fighters, and the clinch game is much more dangerous. Jones presents HW danger in a LHW package and will make quick work of Cormier if given the chance to do so. Hes not going to take a flop like Josh Barnett, Jones has enough money already to retire twice. He is not deserving of the No. 2 HW ranking a lot of systems give him. Training with Cain is definitely an advantage, but entering LHW is a different dimension, and Cormiers overconfidence before getting there will be his Achilles heal. Wait and see, he will never be LHW champ, not with Glover, Gus, Bones, and the other young monsters waiting in the bushes. Sorry for the writing a novel. I just cant stand it when people dont give Jon Jones respect. You dont have to like him, but after what he has done in that division, which has harbored the companies best fighters since its inception, is unbelievable to say the least. For some kid who was trained in upstate NY (and Ive been to that gym in Cortland, I went to college there, its about as high tech as Atari with no big time accomplished coaches or trophies on the wall) for a little over a year and went pro. The guy is amazing and hasnt even reached his full potential yet, thats why I hate to hear that he wants to retire at 30, but every man has his reasoning, and I RESPECT him a lot more than I like him.
