This is for myself, my daughter and parents alike with children that are bound for a higher education, even those venturing out for the first time to start a new chapter of their life, College, job etc. and all the parents who knew this weekend was coming, but now it’s arival is dealing with it in reality. God of life and love, thank you for the years ago you blessed me with a child to care for. My heart is welled with joy and thanksgiving, anticipation and anxiety, amidst many other parents longing to be together with our children up until now. These years of growing up have moved so quickly, so many things left undone, so much left unsaid, so much I still hope to give to my child who is taking this new step in the journey of life. Help us parents as we reshape our lives to reflect this new reality of college. Show us new ways to be present to each other in love and and in trust. Give us patience and help me to remember that our child is establishing new routines in freedom, routines different from ours. Calm our fears. Strenghten and protect our children in the midst of the challenges and tempations which surround all students. Grant greater courage that we, myself may have had in standing for your truth against compromises of faith. Provide good friends and worthy confidants for our children during these college years. Help us as loving parents to give support and confidence, to discern how we are needed now, and to pass on, in our love, a measure of the strength and courage you have given us in the gift of parenting. This I pray for all parents who this past weekend transferred some type of trust to the faculty, my daughter to MTSU and others to their capus of chice. This day Monday they will be in some type of confusion, but they will be victorious as they did, the first day of kindergarden, elementary, high school now college, where they will need You Lord ever more. Blessing to all of those who let loose the tie just a litlle, for education and progress. Give us strength and guidance, and God receive our many prayers for our children. I pray to our children, Prosper not only in your studies, but prosper in knowing God more richly. We will not be there to catch you physically when you fall. But God will catch you when we cant. Depend on Him and learn to trust Him. You are not alone. Knowing this, your empty space at home is not an emptyness in our heart, so we are not lonely without you.
