Couldnt find my stash of tooling plates so I had to bend one for the taper die. I usually do these in batches and throw in a bucket for when I need them. I like plates that cover the die because it helps keep the scale from getting under the tooling and chewing up your die face. The plate should cover the whole die but since 3 of the four hammers in the shop have 2-1/2 wide dies and only one has 3 wide I go with the smaller plate so I can use them in all the hammers. Its a usually a whole lot faster then in the video. One handing the phone so I could record was awkward to say the least.
