County, Faith-Based Organizations to Discuss Disproportionality of African American Children in Foster Care and Juvenile Probation The over representation of African American and African Ancestry children and youth in the County’s foster care and juvenile probation systems is a matter of serious concern. The County of Santa Clara Office of Cultural Competency and the South Bay Christian Ministers Union invite the public to explore whether County policies or practices are contributing factors, share testimonies, and engage in a discussion with County policymakers. Broad community participation in the forum is very important to move this issue off the pages of statistical reports and provide a better understanding of the human impact. This forum is part of an ongoing series of community meetings with various ethnic groups to examine unique factors, needs and possible solutions. It represents an initial step to forge an alliance between faith-based organizations and county agencies to explore ways to support and strengthen disadvantaged families. sanjosenaacp.org/docs/CulturalComp.pdf
