Court Approves Settlement in Tata Class Action: Lieff Cabraser serves as Co-Lead Counsel in a class action lawsuit for thousands of foreign nationals sent by the Indian conglomerate Tata Consultancy Services to work in the U.S. The complaint charges that Tata violated state and federal law by requiring all of its non-U.S.-citizen employees to endorse and sign over their federal and state tax refund checks to Tata. The complaint also alleges that Tata breached its employment contact with its non-U.S.-citizen employees by not paying the amount promised to those employees before they came to the U.S. On July 18, 2013, the U.S. District Court approved a $29.75 million settlement of the case.
