Court Drive improvements start tomorrow Monday 4th August 2014. Making three of the most popular courtesy crossings conventional Zebra crossings*. These will give priority to pedestrians. Whilst they will interrupt the flow of traffic they should also have a further positive impact on traffic speed and feeling safe. Improve tactile paving in the areas and on these crossings to assist blind and visually impaired pedestrians. Improve the clarity of the bus lane, by laying a red surface, to assist drivers. We will also be making some more minor improvements including: Clearer signage about parking Improved clarity for drivers approaching the Asda roundabout from the east Give way lines and the Kingsway and College Drive junction Pedestrian friendly gully grate covers The work is due to commence on Monday 4th of August for up to 8 weeks. The works will be undertaken in stages to minimise disruption to local residents, businesses and visitors. Drivers can expect some minor delays during that time as the work will require temporary two-way traffic lights to be used, but Court Drive will remain open to traffic in both directions throughout. The bus lane will be need to be temporarily closed whilst the red surface is laid towards the end of the scheme. Our team will be working Monday to Friday 09.00am to 16.00 pm. Please be aware there may be a need for weekend working and / or extending the working hours e.g. due to unforeseeable circumstances or, if an opportunity arises to complete some of the works ahead of schedule. centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/travelling/roads-safety-and-highways/road-and-pavement-maintenance/major-road-developments/court-drive-improvements.aspx
