Cowboy at Heart He watched the horse trailer Disappear down the lane With the last horse From off his range The remuda now Had all gone Ranching days Were all done But there were days Seemingly without end When in the saddle Was how they would begin Down a trail Up a parade route Rounding the arena Cutting in and out Groomin’ and feedin’ Breakin’ ice in the winter Sometimes in last place But always a winner Life had completely changed When he answered the call To follow the Big Trail Boss Through the thick and thin of it all And what a blessing When foot met stirrup And seat met saddle In his first giddy up The range is all fenced now The trail paved highway Sunrises and sunsets a plenty He had seen along the way The Big Trail Boss has a plan So I reckon there’ll be a new start Whatever direction, but remember Boss I am still just a cowboy at heart
