Crabs club Seals 14-2 in regular season finale FWL scoreboard watching Ray Aspuria/The Times-Standard ARCATA — Ozzie Sailors stepped onto the mound and got quite the welcoming cheers from the Arcata Ball Park Crowd Sunday afternoon. After all, the Seals Baseball Club’s right-handed pitcher became the first-ever woman to start against their beloved Humboldt Crabs. Using a sharp curve ball, Sailors took a commanding 0-2 count against Crabs’ leadoff man Kyle Moses. But, much like the Seals themselves on Sunday afternoon, the moment was fleeting. Moses drilled Sailors’ offering off the top of the fence in left field for a leadoff triple and away the Crabs went on a 14-2 rout of their Far West League foe. It was a must-win game for Humboldt as the team is a 1/2 game behind Top Speed in the standings as of Sunday. The Crabs are 38-13 while Top is 38-12 in the FWL. The top team at regular season’s end earns the No. 1 seed for the upcoming league tournament at the Arcata Ball Park.
