Crackers. Candles. Sweets. Fancy new clothes. Definition of Diwali? I guess. All around in plenty, none for me this year though. Well its been years now, actually, since Ive been away from home. This year though, Dad is here (thanks to my Dengue). So at least I had company. The evening was pleasant. Wishes poured in on Whatsapp. Made tea for the first time in my kitchen (Electric kettle and teabags wala. Yeah, I dont cook). Phone conversations with a few friends. An episode or two of my favorite sitcoms. And the pleasure of not having to do anything at all (except running to the bathroom every now and then to clean up my nose which was running as well. TMI. Sorry.) Didnt get dinner. All the shops were closed. Only Mithhai. Who can have that for dinner? Dad wont have pizzas and stuff, so couldnt order as well. So no dinner. Brown bread, Jam, Biscuits, Bananas and Apples to the rescue. As I was going through the pictures and updates and posts of Diwali festivities all over, the phone rang. *Home* As I was reaching out for it, Dad smiled and quipped: The tea was really, really good. Sometimes you dont need crackers and candles and sweets and fancy new clothes. Still get your own Diwali. The definition? Inexplicable, at times. :)
