Cranium Life Lesson - Why Never to Argue with The Fringe-Right Wacko Set: So Ive attached an article on the fringe Conservative Right online Blog Media Research Central (MRC) that I posted a comment on that is largely those I posted earlier regarding the economic costs inflicted upon our nation as a result of Climate Change Deniers (the link Ive attached in the comments below). By way of background, my entire point was because of this ridiculous Global Climate Change debate fueled by the Climate Change Deniers, America has lost immeasurable market share and influence in the Green Energy Sector that is on its way to becoming the largest industrial/manufacturing sector in the world. Think about it - it will span from power plants and power grids, the largest public sector spending area any nation has to invest in, to automobiles and any product with an engine, the largest big-ticket items any individual consumer will purchase other than property. Needless to say, I got a LOT of intense bashing. Which I absolutely expected. What I didnt expect the wild and incoherent vitriol that came at me. And heres the lesson learned... something Ive discovered here on Facebook too... When debating with the fringe of Conservative Right, they dont just attempt to argue their point of view - they load whatever they say with a litany of nasty insults, unsubstantiated declarations, unnecessary hyperbole and down right unfortunate mischaracterizations of intent, facts and reality. Basically, it cant just be a discussion or even a debate. Its this low-road diatribe of character attacks and distortion of, well, basically everything - as if they are building their credibility, when in reality they are continually establishing they have none. So you can all go to the link Ive provided here, find my post and read all the rants for your own if you want. If only to get a laugh. But I lifted a stream of the debate I had with one particular person, who I identify as Archie Bunker with an iPad, who ideally represents what mean. His comments and responses to me are priceless. Youll also find that in none of them does he offer any counter argument at all. Literally none. Archies entire counter argument is made up of insults and rants lobed at me personally. And firmly believes hes successfully won the debate because of them. Its so wild. And here it is: mattthewdean: Yeah, Birdman, your remarks about AGW/Climate Change or whatever the hell you morons are calling it these days, vis-à-vis economics, came across to me - regardless of your ideology - as just more of the simple minded BS that your ilk has been pushing since Owlgores vacuous book became your bible. Hard to believe I even thought I might match such obvious intellectualism. And, by the way - its called paraphrasing because when speaking, people dont only two choices - using the quote as it actually is or not. Theres the ability to paraphrase it. Your measure of intellect and who is worthy of debating is not only astounding but exceptionally narrow-minded. So it probably wouldnt surprise you that I neither consider myself stupid or unaware. Actually quite the opposite in comparison. But it so doesnt matter. Clearly one of us firmly believes that people of differing beliefs arent worth learning from - and it isnt me. As a conservative, there is absolutely no reason to debate someone with the mindset that the financial woes of the country are directly attributable to the Republicans and the Conservative Right. In the first place, that attitude bespeaks sheer partisan ignorance; in the second place it represents bone deep stupidity; and in the third place, as a lefty lib precept, it insults my intelligence. Seriously - the signaling of a lost argument isnt the ability to identify bad sentence structure. Rather its the ability to deconstruct an argument and dismantle it to show its weaknesses and flaws.
