Craving God - Saturday, August 30th 2014 1 Peter 2:1-3 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. NKJV God works in an amazing way that is often counter to our understanding. In 1 Peter 2, God calls us to lay aside malice (wickedness) and other harmful things that can hurt us as individuals as well as the church as a whole. Faced with this list, it may seem like an impossible task but then God gives us the solution. Whats the solution? Crave after God. God doesnt give us a step-by-step instruction book but instead, He gives us a powerful image. He tells us to crave the Word of God like a baby craves milk. If you have ever seen a hungry infant, you know that is a powerful craving. In fact, that intense desire for milk soon impacts everyone around that child. The same is true for us as Christians. If we would ask God to give us a craving for His Word, we would then begin reading it, studying it and living it out with a passion. The more we read, the more those sinful actions and attitudes will fall off. Why? Because Gods Word and His Spirit are working in us. Life Lesson: Christians should be known by their desire for Gods Word. Dear God, Thank You for the gift of Your Word. I pray that You would give me a strong desire for You and the Bible. Help me to crave after righteousness like a newborn craves milk. Change my heart and desires so that I can be used to change the world. In Jesus name, Amen. Living to tell what He died to say,
