Creative Activities with community schools in Northern India We encourage volunteers to apply for placement with our community schools in Bodhgaya region of India.The activities highlight volunteer assistance in museum Activities of the kids of community schools like collecting rocks, leaves, feathers and seeds. Volunteers may get involved in organizing Field trips for collecting minerals and rocks for kids. Museum stores are a good place to find all kinds of minerals and rocks for kids. This endeavor is to educate our kids about various kinds of rocks and minerals. Books are the best buy for a detailed study on minerals and rocks information. Such information as discussed above is helpful for school projects on minerals and rocks for kids. Collecting such substances provide a practical exposure to kids, helping them to understand the substances varied structure, shapes and physical and chemical composition. Knowing about minerals and rocks and their properties is like being aware of an important part of Mother Nature and its beauty! Recreational Activities • To get involved in Recreational Activities like drawing, painting, sports and quiz competitions, dialogues, meetings, and story writing and storytelling sessions. School Sports and Leisure Activities Sports and leisure activities are an important component of our schooling. They serve as breathers in the hectic school schedule that todays kids are burdened with. Schooling is not only about studying but also about having fun. Education is best imparted, if learning is made fun. It is very important for us to ensure that students are not overburdened with the school curriculum and are able to devote sufficient time for the overall personality development. It is thus important for us to encourage the active participation of students in sports and leisure activities. These act as effective stress busters in the hectic school schedule and also help create an environment that is conducive to the general growth and development of young minds. The volunteers may be the one to participate in regional games like Kabbadi, Khokho .They can also help kids gaining skills to play chess. We have already teams of girls and boys in different age groups. Our kids are brilliant at atheletic events like long jump, high jump, race and others. Sports are an essential constituent of a school curriculum. Irrespective of the grade a student is studying in, sports are a must. And, it is needless to state the importance of sports in school. They help in fostering the much-needed team spirit among students. They help in inculcating a sportsman spirit in children and serve as an effective way of bringing together, children from diverse cultural backgrounds. Gymnastics, swimming competitions, tennis and badminton tournaments, cricket and other events can be organized in schools. Sports enthusiasts can participate in these events, while those not participating can be a part of the cheering team. Kids are sure to enjoy activities like cycling and running races and fun games like tug of war, Chocolate race, Magical chair race, Balloon blowing Crazy dress wearing round. Leisure Activities at School We involve the volunteers in leisure activities that It aims at their overall development which includes inculcating moral values and principles in them. Devoting their entire schedule to studies and examinations defeats the purpose of an effective school education. It is very important to incorporate some leisure activities in the schools weekly schedule. The volunteers can organize yoga sessions and some breathing exercises for children, thus introducing them to the proper means of relaxation. Loud-reading sessions and library exercises are excellent leisure activities in school. Volunteer can devote one hour every week for reading. Take the kids to the school library and encourage them to explore different books. Music and dance classes are excellent options for leisure activities at school. Some other activities like arranging arts and craft or clay work lessons; thus trying to discover the creativity hidden in the children. Volunteers are futher encourage to organize brainstorming sessions and mental games for students. Fun games and team building activities are the best means of engaging the young minds in leisure activities, while also enabling a quality utilization of their time. Sports and leisure activities are about making fruitful use of time in a creative way. They are the best way to find hidden talent, cultivate bright minds and encourage innovation. School years are the founding years of ones life. They need to be supplemented with fun and excitement, so that children make an ideal beginning to the long journey ahead. • To organize book fair for kids with Hundreds of colorful books and interesting and educational activities. Science Exhibition • To organize Science exhibition with stalls on science experiments, models of human Body, microscope, Magical games. Science field trip ideas are associated with taking students to a location that would uplift their knowledge about science. Students who are keenly interested in science and are zealous to upgrade their scientific knowledge, actively participate in field trips that are usually conducted by us. The motive behind such excursions is directed to educate students regarding a particular discipline, the knowledge of which proves beneficial to them in many aspects. The field trips expose them to an environment that gives them the opportunity to see, observe and understand things that were previously confined only to textbooks. Apart from educational values, the conjoined effort of teachers and the volunteers is to make the trip successful. The idea of making learning fun is well exemplified here. The trips allow students to share their knowledge while being together. Their knowledge expands and they learn many new things in the excursion. The responsibility to organize an educational trip is of the management of the school. However, the idea should be preconceived by students, teachers and volunteers. Once the location is decided, the director of the school contacts the concerned person in-charge, of permitting student visits in their premises. The budget is always a prime concern and every arrangement is made within the reckoned expenditure. After finalizing everything, students and volunteers are provided a list of things that they are supposed to carry on the science field trip. We have just begun with idea, hence we have great scope to improve and organize things. The volunteers may check in with students about location because theres no point taking them to a place in which they are not interested. We however suggest some places as below: Dairy We can take kids to a Dairy project and let them know about processing milk, manufacturing cheese and butter. So how about taking them this time to a dairy factory?
