FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY: The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory...which is in effect from 8 am Sunday to 9 am CST Monday. * Rain that starts Sunday and continues off and on through Monday morning will be falling into temperatures 32 degrees or less and result in freezing rain. We cannot rule out a brief beginning or ending as light sleet or snow...but the bulk of the precipitation and entirety of the advisory hazard will be freezing rain. * Timing: freezing rain will begin in the higher elevations of the Ozarks of southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois by mid morning Sunday...and advance rapidly northeastward across the Wabash River valley into southwest Indiana during the afternoon. Rain or freezing rain will fall more or less periodically through the night and end by mid to late morning Monday. * Ice accumulations: will range from a few hundredths of an inch closer to the Ohio River...to closer to a tenth of an inch along and north of a line from Piedmont Missouri to Petersburg Indiana. * Impacts: light icing of mainly Road surfaces is the primary hazard impact...but other impacts may include light icing of sidewalks and other traveling thoroughfares that will create a potentially hazardous transit...whether in a vehicle or on foot or cycling. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Freezing Rain Advisory means that less than one quarter inch of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause hazardous travel conditions. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
