Crikey - thinking of you in UK Snow on the way as cold snap continues The current cold snap was due to continue today with weathermen forecasting snow over some regions of the UK and icy winds all round. Today PA Weathercentre meteorologist Tony Conlan said forecasts showed the strong north easterly winds from western Russia and Scandinavia which plunged the UK into a period of wintry weather would continue. But over the next couple of days through to the weekend, milder weather is due to push through before a new, harsher cold snap hits the country next week. Mr Conlan said: Next week could be much colder. Our indications are that the north-easterly winds look as if they will re-establish themselves next week. Theres a possibility of snow over southern areas next week and severe frosts further north, in Scotland. Last nights icy winds sent demand for electricity to a record high.
