The parties departed from include the ruling Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and the Labour Party (LP). Notable amongst the decampees are Onje Gyewado, a former deputy governor state who was the gubernatorial candidate of ACN in the 2011 elections, Mr. Nawani Aboki, gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in 2011 and Mallam Iliya Dikko who led the decampees from CPC including a former Adviser of Governor Tanko Al-Makura, Hon. Adamu Sule Liman. Bamanga Tukur, National Chairman of the PDP, received them in a grand ceremony in Lafia, the state capital. In welcoming them he said they would be treated equally and the party would re-organize itself to not only retain their hold on the presidency but win more states too. He said “PDP under my watch, we believe in reconciliation, we believe in reformation of our attitude. We believe in PDP based on equity and justice, no imposition”. Labaran Maku, Information Minister who was present at the ceremony decried the violence in the state and urged the indigenes to support the PDP in 2015 to lead them to a place of peace, development, and sustainable “Since PDP left in 2011, Nasarawa State has not witnessed anything other than violence and crisis. Your Excellency, since PDP left in 2011, Nasarawa State has only harvested violence and crisis. Therefore the only way that Nasarawa State can return to the path of development is to ensure that between now and 2015, PDP will return to power in Nasarawa State by the grace of God”, he proclaimed. Several of the returnees gave reason for their decision. Prof. Gyewado said they returned to the PDP to reclaim power from the CPC and promote development of the state, Nawani Aboki formerly of the LP said all their party structures had been collapsed into the PDP to fortify it, while Aliyu Akwe Doma, former governor of the state, said the PDP was robbed of power in 2011 and called on his people to join the PDP and take back power in 2015. For Alhaji Doma, this would be his first political appearance since he left power. It is interesting to note that all the cross-carpeters were members of the PDP who left earlier to pursue their political ambitions.
