Crossposted from Laura-Jo Bleasdale Were are finally back home after the worst 6 hrs yesterday of loosing my dog from the trailer between a show and home. We dont know how this has happened, how the trailer door has come open for him to get out quickly and then close itself before i noticed it swinging! Being found only a short distance from the grounds, i can only guess its come open whilst leaving the grounds ( driving very slowly ) and closed as Ive turned onto the road. Anyway, this post isnt about how, why or when. I wanted to write this here to highlight the amazing effort people in the dog world made to help me find my boy. We see too many times people on rants about clubs, fellow exhibitors, judges etc etc but yesterday I witnessed exhibitors who dont talk, come together and work out a what was to be done to help. I relied on friends and people i barely know to get the notification out there on social media as i dont have access on my phone. The notifications where shared, and shared again. Dog show exhibitors gave up their Sunday evening to come back to the grounds to set up a search and drove around town looking for him once we knew hed been sighted. The network was truly amazing and i wouldnt have gotten my boy back as quickly as i did ( if at all ) if it wasnt for all these amazing people. Friends called the vets, pounds, radio, police etc, they posted his picture, they approached people in town to ask if theyd seen him. They kept calling me to keep me calm and optimistic. One even sat with me as we drove the streets calling for him for 4 hrs! All this goes to show that whatever differences we all have, whatever opinions we hold, they all fly out the window when a crisis hits. I cant thank the dog show world enough for helping me get my boy back.
