Cultivating Community through Shared Experiences with Current and Former Military Spouses January 29th, 2015 Time: 11am Beach Museum of Art, K-State Campus Military spouses are invited to join ceramic artist Lauren Karle for a unique experience as they use her specially designed mugs inspired by the season of the Konza Prairie and the traditions of the tea ceremony. The patterns on the mugs have been made in pairs, and the participants will find the person whose pattern matches their own and will reflect and converse while sharing tea. To expand the connections cultivated, partners will join with another pair who has the same color handle. Conversation starters will be provided to encourage exchange of ideas and exploration of human commonalities. The goal of this activity is for citizens to connect with people they might not otherwise talk to and thereby build community in Manhattan. Children’s program also will be provided.
