Curfew In Parts of Kashmir Capital After Youth’s Killing |#S_Tajamul_BM_ImraN| :: SRINAGAR: Indefinite curfew has been imposed in Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and down town Srinagar following death of a youth and injury to another in alleged security force firing on “pro-freedom” demonstrators last evening. Curfew restrictions have been imposed in the areas falling under seven police stations in SeK and down town as a precautionary measure to prevent any violence. Two youths were injured when security forces opened fire at anti-poll and “pro-freedom” demonstrators at Nawa Kadal area of the SeK immediately after polling for Srinagar parliamentary constituency was over last evening. The incident took place when poll officials were leaving to deposit Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). The injured were rushed to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) where Bashir Ahmad succumbed to his injuries. Hundreds of Central Paramilitary forces and state police personnel have been deployed in the curfew bound areas since late on last night. Locals in the curfew bound areas alleged that they were not being allowed to purchase essentials, including bread, milk and vegetables. Even milkmen from outskirts were also turned back by security personnel. All separatist organizations have called for strike today while main opposition Peoples Democratic Party has strongly condemned the incident. The ruling alliance National Conference and Congress have expressed grief and sorrow and demanded time bound inquiry.
