Current Affairs Global - 15 November 2013 1. Maldives President Mohamed Waheed stepped down as President as the country prepared to hold the second round of the Presidential election today. The second round of the Presidential election will take place on Saturday with the Maldives Democratic Party candidate and former President Mohamed Nasheed being the key candidates. 2. The US trade deficit widened more than expected in September as imports jumped to their highest level in almost a year. The trade gap increased 8% to USD 41.8 billion, the largest since May. Also the job market is showing continuous improvement with jobless benefits dropped in the last week. 3. Inflation across the euro zone dropped to 0.7% in October which is the lowest inflation level in last four years, as per the data published by the European Union. The 12-month rate of consumer price increases was dropped from 1.1% in previous month of September.
