State-owned Central Bank of India has launched a novel deposit scheme that has a free credit card bundled with it. Under Cent Aspire, any individual can get a free credit card against fixed deposit with the bank for deposit amount of Rs. 20,000 and above. Reliance Life Insurance Company (RLIC) has tied up with ‘Room to Read’ to set up libraries across schools in India. ‘Room to Read’ is a global non-profit organisation committed to promoting literacy and gender equality in education by providing libraries in schools. This partnership aims to set up over 100 libraries in government primary schools and reach out to over 10,000 children across the country through this initiative. Reliance Life Insurance and Room to Read will create and maintain libraries in Municipal Corporation Schools across Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra in the first year of their programme. Due to decline in oil import, Indias trade deficit for the month October has narrowed to 13 billion dollars as compare to the previous month of 14.25 billion dollars. Trade deficit in October last year had stood at 10.5 billion dollars. Export data released by Commerce Ministry said that the gold imports jumped to 4.17 billion dollars from 1.09 billion dollars a year ago. Silver imports were reported at 686 million dollars. Meanwhile, the exports in October also hit lowest level since March 2014. It reduced by 5.04 per cent to 26 billion dollars in October as compare to same month of last year. Assam government has presented the first state bravery award to Gunjan Sarma in Guwahati. The award was given by state Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Ajit Singh. 15 year old Gunjan, a resident of Sivsagar district has been selected for the first ever bravery award for saving lives of 10 school children last year. The brave girl volunteered to be taken hostage by a gunman but later managed to escape from the forest area along the Assam- Nagaland border. The courage of Gunjan was well appreciated across the country. The Assam government announced to make the bravery award an annual event in the name of the brave girl. Madhya Pradesh government will spend a sum of more than Rs 14 crore to promote organic farming during current financial year. The Organic Farming Promotion Scheme is being implemented in 16 districts of the state. A series of measures has been taken to promote organic farming in the state. A process has been initiated to develop villages doing cent percent organic farming as model villages under Mukhyamantri Khet-Tirth Yojana. In Assam, Kemi Jelom gram panchayat in flood hit Dhemaji district is all set to get a re-look under the ambitious Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna. Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency, IREDA and US-Exim Bank today signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU on cooperation on clean energy investment. US Exim Bank will provide USD one billion for medium and long-term loans to finance US technologies, products and services utilized during commercial development activities within the clean energy sector by IREDA. The MoU will establish a framework for cooperation in the financing of credit worthy entities for renewable energy projects. A study into international terrorism says that the number of deaths from terrorism increased by 61 per cent between 2012 and 2013. There were nearly 10,000 terrorist attacks in 2013, a 44 per cent increase from the previous year, the Global Terrorism Index 2014 report added. The report said militant groups Islamic State, al-Qaeda, Book Harem and the Taliban were behind most of the deaths. The report by the Institute for Economics and Peace, Steve Killeen, Executive Chairman says that nearly 18,000 people died from terrorist attacks in 2013.
