Currently New Zealands largest income threshold is $70,000+ per year per individual at a tax rate of 33% tax rate... Most countries have a threshold of $150,000+ with a slightly larger tax bracket (eg: Australia $180,001+ at a tax rate of 45%) (eg: UK over £150,000+ at a tax rate of 45%) (US $183,251 – $398,350 at a tax rate of 36.8%)... So in fairness New Zealand has been collecting less tax on the higher end earners for years compared to the rest of the larger tax brackets in other developed countries... So a new tax to set off a new threshold at $150,000+ per year at a tax rate of 36% seems pretty fair indeed....
