Currently building in Calgary, Windsor Park Fire Station! Client: City of Calgary The replacement station will support an additional bay and will have the space to accommodate modern firefighting apparatus. It will meet Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standards in order to minimize its environmental impact. Some features contributing to its LEED Gold rating include solar water heating panels, storm water management and use of permeable surfaces, a reflective roofing system, solar photovoltaic panels on the roof to supply some electrical needs, and others. The new Windsor Park Fire Station will continue to offer community-focused programs including station tours as well as blood pressure and cholesterol screening. The $17.25 million redevelopment project, including removal of existing infrastructure, has support from the Government of Alberta’s Alberta Municipal Infrastructure Program ($8 million), and from the Government of Alberta’s Municipal Sustainability Initiative ($8.75 million) with $500,000 coming from tax supported capital funding.
